THE MONTEREY FIVE-STEP CONSTRUCTION PROCESS
Monterey Boats uses the same five-step construction process for all boats. They start with the application of fade-resistant, high gloss, premium polyester gelcoat followed by a super-tough, long-chain polymer resin, AME 5000, whose density and adhesion properties make it an exceptionally effective barrier against osmotic blistering. Next is Spray Core, another high-tech, synthetic material that helps prevent woven roving print-through, is sprayed on syntactic foam to offer a smooth, lustrous finish on every Monterey Boat. Woven fiberglass roving is then hand laid from the hull bottom through the chines and up the hull sides. This woven roving also overlaps at the chine and keel to provide additional strength where it really counts. Finally, Monterey injects closed-cell foam into every cavity of the hull bottom to allow a soft, quiet ride and add strength to the hull sides and bottom.
